For nine days commencing on the first Lunar day following Aani Amavasai, 10 July, we will be honouring Goddess Shakthi by chanting Lalitha Sahasranama, performing homam (fire ceremony) and Kumkum archanai simultaneously each day. The Lalitha Sahasranama praises the Goddess Shakthi in the form of ‘Lalitha’ who is ‘the one who fulfils all desires,’ and describes various attributes of the Goddess in the form of 1000 names.
It is said in the scriptures that performing Kumkum archanai to the Mother Goddess is the equivalent of offering a silk sari to Sri Kamakshi in Kanchipuram. Homam’s are also considered to be the most evolved spiritual technology on Earth to connect with and earn the grace of the Lord.
Sponsorship is available for this highly auspicious pooja for $101 for each day of participation (this includes sponsorship of homam and Kumkum archanai for one day). All sponsors are invited to participate in Durga Homam on the 10th day, 19 July, commencing at 9am.
